Play Clean Go

Sea to Sky Invasive Species Council created this campaign to educate outdoor recreationists on best practices to minimize the spread of invasive species. This includes cleaning off all mud, seeds, and plant fragments from clothes, equipment, and gear before moving to new areas.

This is particularly important for trail runners and hikers in the Sea to Sky since many of them travel between different trail networks within and beyond the region. Often without realizing it, seeds, burs, and plant parts can get caught in clothing and trail shoes and transported from one trailhead to the next. This ‘hitchhiking’ is a major cause of invasive species spread, causing harm to the biodiversity of the habitat they are introduced to.
